A Grade 80 forged master link (A-342) — a single-piece forged super-alloy-steel link, quenched and tempered, that forms the top connection point of a chain sling to the crane hook — built for overhead lifting and rigging where a strong, certified forged link gathers the sling legs into a secure single-point hitch.
The G80 forged master link A-342 is a single oblong alloy-steel ring that serves as the top connection for G80 chain slings, rigging assemblies and spreader bar connections. Forged from super alloy steel and quenched and tempered, it is individually proof tested at 2 times its working load limit with certification and rated to an ultimate load of 4 times the WLL. Available in sizes from 1/2" to 4" with working load limits from 2 t to 100 t, it is built for single- and multi-leg chain slings on overhead cranes, lifting beams and heavy industrial rigging where a single, certified attachment point is needed.
It is the single-ring counterpart to the two-leg A-345 master link assembly — use A-342 when you need one master ring to terminate your own sling legs, and A-345 when the legs come pre-welded into a sub-link assembly. A pressed-flat option is available on request. See the specification table below to confirm which size matches your chain and load.
Manufactured from high-strength alloy steel and subjected to precision quenching and tempering for excellent strength, durability, and structural integrity.
Each master link is individually proof tested at 2 times the Working Load Limit (WLL) to ensure reliable performance and consistent quality.
Designed for chain slings with a WLL of up to 100T. The ultimate load capacity reaches 4 times the WLL, providing enhanced safety for heavy-duty lifting applications.
Available in a wide range of sizes from 1/2" to 4", with powder-coated surface treatment. Standard colors include Red (RAL3020) and Yellow (RAL1003), with customized colors and markings available upon request.
Not every sling needs a pre-welded top assembly. Where you are building your own single- or multi-leg chain sling and need a single certified ring to terminate the legs — on an overhead crane, a lifting beam, a spreader bar — a forged master link does the job as a proven top connection rather than a field-made link. Forged from super alloy steel and quenched and tempered, it is individually proof tested to 2 times its working load limit with certification and rated to an ultimate load of 4 times the WLL — built for dependable chain sling rigging.
Which A-342 size fits your job? If you are rigging light-to-general loads on smaller G80 chain, the 1/2" through 1-1/4" models (2 t to 16 t) cover standard shop and plant slings. If your application is heavy industrial lifting on larger chain, the 1-1/2" through 4" models (21.7 t to 100 t) are rated for the duty. If you just need a single certified ring to hang your own sling legs from a hook, the A-342 is the straightforward choice — choose the pre-welded A-345 assembly instead if you want two sub-links ready-made. A pressed-flat ring is also available on request. Compare: G80 FORGED MASTER LINK A-342 Compare: G80 LIFTING SCREW POINT

If you are terminating your own sling legs, the single-ring A-342 is the right choice; if you need two sub-links pre-welded into one top assembly, pick the A-345 instead.
Choose from 1/2" up to 4" (item DELE8088-01 through DELE8088-17) to match your G80 chain — note 7/8" is offered in both a 6.4 t and an 8 t version, so order by rated load, not just thread.
Select from 2 t to 100 t based on your maximum lifted load, plus the required safety margin; each link is proof tested to 2× WLL with certification and rated to 4× ultimate.
Standard finish is a powder coat in red (RAL3020) or yellow (RAL1003), with other colours on request; request a pressed-flat ring only if your installation requires it.

What is the A-342 master link, and where is it applied?
The A-342 is a single oblong, closed-die forged alloy-steel master link, intended as the upper terminal connection of EN 818-4 Grade 80 chain slings. It seats on the hook of an overhead crane or lifting beam and receives the upper termination of one or more sling legs.
What working load limits are available?
The range covers unit WLLs from 2.0 t up to 100 t in seventeen stepped ratings — 2, 3, 4.7, 6.4, 8, 11, 16, 21.7, 28.4, 35, 45, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 t — each matched to a corresponding EN 818-2 Grade 80 short-link chain size.
How is it proof tested and certified?
Each master link is individually proof tested to 2.0 times its marked working load limit and released with traceable test certification; the minimum ultimate strength is rated at 4.0 times the WLL, corresponding to a 4:1 design factor.
What material is it manufactured from?
It is hot-forged from a quench-and-tempered alloy steel selected for the high yield-to-tensile ratio and impact toughness required in overhead lifting at −20 °C and above.
How is the correct size selected?
The item is selected by the Grade 80 chain diameter together with the assembled sling's working load at the maximum planned leg angle. Note that the 7/8" product is manufactured in two distinct ratings — 6.4 t and 8.0 t — so the ordering code (DELE8088-04 versus DELE8088-05) must be confirmed by load, not by ring size alone.
